Orangutang and Hound

Hound Dog Breeds are fabulous family dogs. Hounds are always entertaining. Sometimes just looking at them is quite Your my very BEST friend entertaining. I decided to compile some outrageous pictures of dogs. What dog breed could be more suitable to show than the hound dog breeds. I will attempt to gather the longest Hound Dog breed list over a short time. I would very much like you to add a hound dog breed I may have missed. Just add to comments or contact page. In my search I found an orangutang and hound dog that found a unique love in their friendship. This is their story. Their passion as best friends is touching and an inspiring love story of true friendship.  In the pantheon of animal odd couples, these two belong up there with Kermit and Miss Piggy. Suryia the orangutan and Roscoe the Bluetick Coonhound met in a sanctuary for endangered animals two years ago, in South Carolina, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail. Roscoe was an underfed stray, but Suryia quickly took him under his wing. Dr. Bhagavan Antle, founder of The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species TIGERS in Myrtle Beach, told the Daily Mail that Roscoe followed him and Suryia through the park's gate one day. "As soon as he saw Roscoe, Suryia ran over to him and they started playing," Antle said "It was unusual because dogs are usually scared of primates; but they took to each other straight away." Best Friend Animals After a few unsuccessful phone calls to find an owner, Antle said they decided to let Roscoe stay. Now the the pair have a ball frolicking around the park. "They will spend a few hours each day together rolling around, swimming," Antle said. "Suryia will take Roscoe for walks around the enclosure and even feeds him some of his monkey biscuits." The pair may even appear soon on Oprah Winfrey's show, the Daily Mail reported. Hound Dog and OrangutangSuryia the orangutan hugging Roscoe the hound dog. Photo courtesy National Geographic Channel.

Suryia the Orangutan may not be familiar to many of you as the ape companion of Dr. Bhagavan “Doc” Antle, founder and director of The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species. You may remember him, though, from his segment on the National Geographic Channel and subsequent YouTube video sensation in which he met and formed a fast and somewhat surprising friendship with Rosco, the stray hound dog. Posted in September of 2009, the video is enjoying new life as it makes the viral rounds once again. As of this posting, it’s up to just shy of one million views! It’s no surprise why. Animal antics are delightful to watch, and the more human the behavior, the funnier and more endearing an audience is likely find it. But there’s something particularly heart-warming about the tale of Suryia and Rosco. A dog without a pack meets a young, playful orangutan. Without a moment’s hesitation they are rolling around together, wrestling and playing. Suryia even provides food from her own rations! Roscoe the dog and and Surya the Orangutang “A good pack leader is going to make sure that his pack survives,” said Cesar Millan. “He needs the pack; he can’t make it by himself. It’s no surprise that an orangutan, or a cat, or a dog, or any animal in this situation would share food with a follower.” Though the dog was encouraged to leave and return to its home, he continued to come back day after day. The ape and dog had become a pack of two; inseparable. What fraternal instinct brought the two together? What can we learn from their friendship? The social habits of animals can serve as a window into our own behavior and the behavior of our canine companions. “You can see that no matter what the orangutan is doing, the dog is in a submissive state,” said Millan of the video. “He touches him, kisses him, and no matter what he does, the dog remains submissive. That is trust at its best. That tells you that you don’t need to know dog training to establish a relationship with a dog. The fundamentals of life are universal; it’s about trust, respect, and loyalty. And it happens right away for animals. It can take a long time for humans, because we intellectualize it. A human, before he gets a dog, has already read four or five books on dog training, so when he finally has the dog, he is confused about which method to practice! The orangutan is a beautiful example of how instincts work differently.”   What has the bond between Suryia and Rosco taught you? Their bond has taught me that LOVE will take you in and make you it's own. You will stay where true love abides. It makes me sad to imagine the day one will lose the other. Many thanks to the humans that allow these two to live their lives with each other. I have stories of unlikely animal best friends. I will add more later. The funniest hound dog pictures I could find are here for your enjoyment until the next best friend animal story. Hangin in there.
